News & Announcements for the New Year

Hey yall – with the start of the New Year we’re getting back into the swing of things, and I wanted to take the time to do some house cleaning stuff.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who donated to our fundraising campaign again. Because of your generous donations, we have been able to expand into TWO new markets!

We are now officially on the radio in Chattanooga, TN, on WGOW 102.3FM from 7 to 8pm local time. The time slot we’re hoping is temporary – the station has said they think the folks who currently occupy some of the time that we’re live on Saturdays (11am-12pm eastern) might be willing to move in the fall. We’re crossing our fingers about being able to simulcast there so our new Chattanooga audience can participate with the show live.

Beginning next Saturday, the 18th, we’re supposed to be on WLWI 92.3FM in Montgomery, AL, LIVE!

We’ve also been able to finally bring Adam on as a paid contributor. After volunteering with the project for 3 years or so now, we’re excited to finally be able to pay him for his work. I’ll still maintain my volunteer status.

We also have a small freelance budget now, so if there are any stories that you’d like to write for The Valley Labor Report, feel free to pitch us! Like I said, the budget is small, but I’m excited about what we’ll be able to do with it.

Boss Watch will continue to come out on Monday evenings, now with a new section sponsored by LaborLab. We’ll be sharing with you the latest information they’ve compiled every week about anti-union “persuaders,” including how much they’re paid to dissuade us from unionizing.

Last Week in Southern Labor will continue to come out on Tuesdays.

As always, please remember to send us your union stories! You can do so at TVLR.FM/Contact

If any other union or organization is interested in sponsoring these newsletters (which go out to some 700 folks), you can reach out in the same venue. We have sponsorship spots available on the radio too, where we are now on 6 terrestrial radio stations in 4 states.

At The Valley Labor Report, our priority is lifting up the struggles of working folks, particularly in the South, and being an educational resource for organizers in the fight. Please do always feel free to make recommendations if you feel there is somewhere that we are falling short.

Despite everything, I believe there is reason to be hopeful for the future of the working class.

In solidarity,

Jacob Morrison
